Here is Nick writing his 2015 goals at the beginning of this year.
What I’ve discovered and what I advise is that you gotta find little stuff, little things that you do on a daily basis that add up over time and bring you to a place where you want to be. So its a whole lot less about CRUSHING it, grinding it out, and a whole lot more about what are you doing every single day, little by little, to get you closer and closer to your goal. Thats what its really all about.
Recapping 2015; what did you do this year? How did it work out for you? What did you accomplish, how did you learn, how did you transform? If you wasted the past year by thinking about it, dreaming about it, talking about it, complaining about it, and generally taking no action…maybe you need to revise your approach. Maybe stop making such big goals. Maybe stop thinking so much, thinking so grand…maybe put your feet back on the ground. The best way to get involved in the activity of making things happen is with daily rituals. Do little things every single day whether you feel like doing it or not. Habits, rituals, things you do on a daily basis that add up to your achieving your goal.
You’ve got to switch your mindset. Every day I get my work done then I head to the gym at about 3pm. Its a habit. I don’t see it as 'damn, i have to go GRIND in the gym now.' I don’t see it as grinding. It is just something I do, a habit. You know what happens when you grind something right? Like an ax…if you grind that ax it will be sharp. But if you Grind that ax so much you will grind it to a stub, no longer being sharp. So if you are out there GRINDING to achieve your goals, you are only going to grind yourself to becoming eventually dull. To grind means that there is resistance. To grind means that there must be pain, suffering, resistance. What I’m sharing with you is just a slightly different perspective… I’m not saying don’t grind. I think you have to grind in the beginning to get started and probably the most important thing to create momentum. But ultimately you’ve gotta create RITUALS. Daily Rituals that come naturally to you…Like brushing your teeth.
Is it a daily grind for you to brush your teeth? Most likely no.
Is it a grind for you to go to the gym? It shouldn’t be. It should be natural...a habit...a ritual. If you gotta grind every single time you gotta go to the gym you are going to grind yourself to a dull stub. The gym should feel euphoric, it should pull you towards it. Just like you wake up in the morning and the tooth brush calls you to action. . . the weights should call you to action because it is just a habit, ritual you do every day. And the question of whether you feel like it or not is not even a question any more…you just do it.
Here are a mixture of some pictures taken earlier this year as well as recent ones. Feel free to share them but be sure to tag @noxtraining and @rxaction in the caption. Thanks.
